Seats in renowned engineering, medical and management colleges, including IITs, AIIMS, will no longer be vacant. The National Information Center (NIC) has made an e-counseling platform available for it, through which admissions are being completed in almost all the major institutions.
NIC Director General Neeta Verma said that e-counseling is proving to be a very successful platform. All admissions of IIT, NIT, Triple IT, NEET, JE Main, Hotel Management, Pharmacy, Polytechnic, MBA are now through e-counseling. If a student wants to get admission in engineering, then he has the option to join the counseling of IIT to the Engineer College of the state on the same counseling platform. But if he is willing to go into medical or any other field and fulfills the requirements, then he can also participate in counseling of those institutions simultaneously. This will not only eliminate the problem of seats remaining vacant, students will also have a chance to make better choices.
He said that after each stage, students get to know the vacant seats. The students keep changing the options, due to which the seats are filled and empty till the admission process is completed. With e-counseling, students are getting the option to apply for vacant seats at home. Hundreds of seats remain vacant in all the colleges including IIT, NIT. While thousands of qualified candidates do not get a chance. Through e-counseling, they are getting a chance to choose a seat till the last day and last minute.
He said that the facility of e-counseling has been fully introduced in JE Main, JE Advance, UGC NET, CETAT, NEET, NCHM-JEE, CIMAT, GPAT, JNU, ARPIT etc. About three thousand institutes, 35 state education boards have been associated with this platform.
